Thank God for quick reflexes

I had a hell of a scare this morning on my way to work.

Was on a 4 lane highway on my way to Brantford from Guelph.

Was cruising along at about 115 kph and enjoying my coffee and some good tunes on the local classic rock station.

Got behind a 18 wheeler and he was going a bit slow so i pulled in to the right lane to pass him.

He was probably cruising at about 100 kph so i was slowly over taking him at my 110 -115.

When i was about half way past him the shit hit the fan.

I swear i havent been that freaked out in years .

The truck driver obviously wasnt paying attention to the road in front of him and i think we both noticed at about the same time that there was a car STOPPED DEAD in his lane about 100 or so feet in front of him.No brake lights or turn signal so i figure the damn thing must have died right there.

Now that i have had time to think about it i realize the guy had to choose between 3 things

1. Stay where he was and give the person in the car the ride of thier , soon to end , life

2 . Cross in to on coming traffic , which was fairly heavy, and probably kill alot of people

or

3. make a HARD right and hope the poor bastard in the little S10 has the reflexes to save his freakin life


ever go completly onto the shoulder of the road at 110 kph without even having a second to look and see if there is anything , like parked cars or whatever in the way?

no?

Well i dont recommend it

All i saw was mailboxes and driveways flying by on my right and a 18 wheeler on my left that looked like it was in danger of tipping over.

Man what a way to start a day.
