World Series of Poker to Hold Teleconference Regarding Concerns
Next Wednesday March 14, the World Series of Poker will be holding a teleconference as a rare opportunity to have all your questions about the 38th Annual World Series of Poker answered by officials in charge of the event.
An obvious concern voiced among many will be the noticeable absence of online poker rooms, who have helped fuel the poker craze and allowed the WSOP to more than triple in size during the past three years. This year, it is widely believed that attendance will be about a quarter of what it was in 2006.
It is believed that the teleconference for the most part will be limited to media organizations, though we encourage anyone interested to inquire below.
The media itself is not exactly thrilled over the WSOP decision to cut out all online poker ties. Many of the major poker publications like Card Player and Bluff rely heavily on online poker advertising revenue, which no doubt has been impacted by recent legislation that the WSOP has seemingly supported.
All is not lost as European poker tournaments will look to fill the void left behind by the World Series of Poker. But alas, there will now be the WSOP Europe.
